During her lecture, entitled ‘International opportunities for Maastricht in sport, economics and culture’, Vriesekoop will be exploring the opportunities available in China for an internationally oriented city such as Maastricht. China has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The Chinese no longer copy those in the West, are becoming increasingly innovative as a country and a hotbed for new developments. There are an unprecedented number of opportunities available for collaborating with China.

Based on her own experience of the country, sinology studies and her sporting background, Vriesekoop explores the opportunities for the Netherlands and, more especially, Maastricht. Her fascinating talk also serves as a fitting conclusion to Maastricht International Week.
